This is our first taste of delivering you the sights, sounds, inspirations and photoshoots of our live in
the magnificent Eastern Mpumalanga. This region is renowned for its natural scenic beauty and
historical value to all who have a hand in its wonderful journeys, trails and legends.
Let’s begin with the actual property of Mosswood B&B. It started life on the very edge of the village
of Graskop as the ugliest house known to man, approximately 50 years ago. The original walls of the
house are still intact and have lent themselves to a magnificent overhaul and renovation. The
current property houses four very spacious and luxury-oriented suites, all with adjoining 2 person
showers, double vanity and enclosed WC. It has been constructed to allow another 4 suites to be
added on at a later stage.
I am the current owner of the Bed & Breakfast, and take immense pleasure in telling the world, that
the design, in its entirety, was done by my son David. This young man’s vision and attention to detail
is of an incredibly talented draughtsman, although he has no qualification, nor previous experience,
in this field. Had C.1.9. not bowled the world upside down, the original would have been completed,
but now remains to be manifested in its full glory, so watch this space
Alongside him, is Jo-anne, his fiancé and the interior designer of the property. Hats off to a young
lady who is the research fundi of the world, and who put together the MOST insanely contemporary
design aesthetic. When I started the breakfast on the property in December 2021, I walked into a
pink kitchen. (For those who are redecorating, it’s the most serene color to work in). The
compliments received over the past 4 years are of the same caliber – some of the best rooms people
have spent a night in. This is not because of any madly expensive anything, but due to the calming
therapy of the color schemes, the attention to every detail you would need, and the super
comfortable beds.
The housekeeping staff, Jane and Betty, are indispensable to the running of Mosswood and each
have brought their own strengths to the party…Betty with her ability to make the best pancakes
(pannekoek, crepe) in the world, and Jane who makes bacon stand up and sing! Together we have
learned from each other, stood tall in the highs, cried in the lows and continued to offer a wonderful
experience to guests spending time with us.
We hope to welcome Y.O.U. soon!
